Process

Ring rolling is a hot forming process that produces seamless rings varying in size from a few inches in diameter, and weighing less than one pound, to over 25 feet in diameter and face heights approaching 10 feet.

The Seamless Rolled Rings Forging Process

1

Round bars cut to size by weight are upset in upsetting press to achieve required round shape for punching press.

2 Round Work piece is punched, to achieve Cup like shape.
3 Here Cup like shape work piece is trimmed in trimming press to achieve preform shape required for ring rolling machine as shown in figure
4 Ring rolling process begins with the mendrel applying pressure to the preform against the rolling wheel. Ring Diameters increases as the continuous pressure reduces the wall thickness. The process continues until the desired size is achieved.
5 Ring is then drawn in sizing press to achieve uniformity in all dimensions.

Our ring rolling produces seamless rings with forged properties, which results in optimum mechanical properties, and predictable and efficient machinability.

After forging, depending upon its application and customer requirement, forged rings goes through spherodized annealing process, shot blasting process, rough machining and CNC machining process.
